Water testing FAQs
Water testing may not always be required however the legionella assessment is required to identify if the test is needed.
Water testing is important because it can help prevent people from getting sick from contaminated water. Water testing can also help identify potential sources of contamination and prevent the spread of waterborne diseases. Water testing involves various methods that analyse water samples to determine the presence of contaminants, such as bacteria, chemicals, and other substances that are harmful to human health.
We can carry out an assessment of your water system to identify any risks and advise how to manage the risks including if your property or establishment requires chlorination or sterilisation.
If it is identified as part of your assessment that a water test is required we would then advise a system flush to chlorinate and remove any bacteria in your system leaving it safe for you and your family.
Our experienced engineers will carry out a legionella assessment.
The assessment looks at type of water system in place, temperatures, accessibility, the tank, dead legs (such as redundant pipes, washer connections etc) and outlets.
This will help identify any potential sources of risk, any controls in place to control risks. It will also look at monitoring, inspection and maintenance procedures in place and required. As part of the assessment outside taps will also be checked to ensure they have a double check valve, this valve prevents contamination of the cold mains.
The legionella risk assessment is completed on the job and can be provided on the same day, this will advise you of any further actions required and any water tests needed following the assessment.
